Every so often I have an image that pops into my mind, an image so vivid and so motivating that it drives me inexorably through the creation of some character concept. I had just such an event occur last night; the image of a blazing inferno raging across the battlefield, consuming everything in his path. Building A Concept – The Silent Storm
Some people find it rather strange that the rogue class type gets rolled in with the warriors in Mana Punk. I do not however find this in the slightest bit strange; it seemed like a natural fit to combine numerous facets that already existed in the warrior archetype, merging them into a stealth-focused point. To that end I have chosen to dedicate this edition of Building a Concept to the creation of a stealthy whirlwind of a warrior, built upon the Hoplite archetype of all things. Continue reading
Building A Concept – Gravedigger Edition
For the better part of the last year I have spent a large volume of my gaming time becoming addicted to League of Legends. More than just fun game play, Riot Games does a wonderful job of packing compelling character concepts and back-story behind every one of their champions. One particular champion that I have had my interest peaked by was that of Yorick, the Gravedigger. Yorick is a lumbering hulk of an undead thing, summoning forth ghoulish horrors to aid him in striking fear into the hearts of his foes.
The question then struck me: Could we make our own version of Yorick in Mana Punk? Continue reading
