The Server Trolls notified me over the weekend that the RSS feed service we were using to get content out of our Google Plus page and onto the website had apparently stopped working at some point in recent weeks. They initially thought the failure was on our end, but extensive investigation and backtracking narrowed the issue down to the RSS feed service being shut down (specifically due to having their service’s Google+ access blocked by Google directly). So I spent the rest of the weekend digging and searching, attempting to find an RSS Feed service that was #1 Not Shut Down that #2 Still Works With Google Plus. At present I am finding a sum total of ZERO services that meet this qualification. This is making it extremely difficult for us to further justify the use of Google Plus as a social medium, specifically because it appears to be a somewhat ANTI-SOCIAL SOCIAL NETWORK. Google still won’t release a developmental API, and now they are actively shutting down external RSS feed services.
We have IFTTT.COM (“If This Then That”, I highly recommend you take a look at it. It does wonders for internet automation!) to make use of, and was using it as a repeater service from our G+ RSS Feed to posts here at the main website. But as there are no RSS feeds services that work with G+ anymore, we are at a bit of an impasse.
Does anyone out their have a pearl of wisdom to offer on this subject?
